Explosive Coverage
This blog was a bit premature yesterday. Foreign news is not always currently mostly absent from U.S. cable TV news. For instance, give media here suicide attacks at a foreign hotel, and they cover those.

Also, at just before 8 AM ET, for some unfathomable reason CNN handed air time to some (yours truly thinks Missouri) car dealer who is giving away an AK-47 with every car purchase. Just as James Madison would have, no doubt. Wouldn’t he have?
In a promotional photo, he — the dealer, not James Madison — is seen proudly standing next to a new car, while holding an AK-47 in each arm. If CNN has contempt for him — which anchor Carol Costello certainly appeared to (and not entirely unreasonably; and an on air argument between them nearly ensued) — why cover this dumb story at all? And why also give him a free national TV commercial?

Separately, over where they wear lamp shades on their heads in the mornings, FNC’s “Fox and Friends” obviously doesn’t realize that Massachusetts’s attempt at filling the health insurance coverage gap with “Commonwealth Care” is not in itself “universal” cover, but essentially a facilitator for those who apply and “fall within certain guidelines and who meet other qualifications.”
Yet this morning anchor Steve Doocy managed to dope his way through a piece on how it is “unaffordable” and “failing,” but — amazingly — he did so without once using the word “socialized.”
Thus, some good news: FNC is not entirely ineducable after all.

‘why cover this dumb story at all?” because it plays into the anti-gun culture at CNN.
“over where they wear lamp shades on their heads in the mornings”
as if the other morning news shows aren’t any worse than FNC
