Zac Is Still Concerned

Sky reports:

The United States is considering establishing a diplomatic presence in Iran for the first time in 30 years, according to reports.

President George Bush’s administration is planning an interests section in Tehran, according to The Guardian newspaper.

It would be staffed with diplomats and be similar to America’s outpost in Cuba…

Sky commenter and likely U.S.-Islamic Republic of Iran relations scholar “Zac” is impressed, but still concerned:

Maybe I’ve underestimated the lame duck Bush administration. I would have thought bombing Iran was more likely than this. Still, it’s only rumours. And it does nothing to quell Israel’s tantrums.

Yes, those utterly pointless Israeli tantrums. Why on earth do they have any reason to worry about nuclear armed neighbors? It’s truly anyone’s guess.

In any case, even if the rest of us are safely conned, presumably “Zac” and the Guardian will shortly wake up and realize the danger this move signals. That Bush is one crafty moron, remember. This must surely be a ploy, laying the groundwork for “the attack”?
