When the brilliant, insightful, astute, detached Times political analyst Andrew “electoral tsunami” Sullivan is reduced to citing Michelle Malkin . . . the Democrats’ presumed presidential nominee (if only that annoying woman — not Ms Malkin, the other one — would just finally go away) must indeed be in serious trouble.

And it’s still only May. In this comparison, Mr Sullivan has most tellingly failed to notice that when the Conservatives were in the wilderness here in Britain — …You could ask William Hague … Or Iain Duncan Smith. Or Michael Howard… — they were up against the centrist Mr Blair, and New Labour. Sen Obama, in contrast, is often far left on many issues, and it is Sen McCain who is increasingly seen in the center.

Much like Mr Cameron. What seems the likely outcome in November is a Democratic Senate and House, with increased Democratic majorities, and a Republican President McCain subsequently summiting with Prime Minister Cameron. Clearly the latter, though, is Mr Sullivan’s worst . . . electoral Mcnightmare.

UPDATE: To clarify, Mr Sullivan is the childless, middle-aged white, gay British man who is obviously more representative of the “future” non-racial, wide-ranging “Obama-ist” “coalition” appearing on the U.S. political scene than is the American-born daughter of Filipino immigrants, and mother, Ms Malkin.
