The BBC says my wife is a result of a “mutated gene”, owing to the reasons we are blessed with red heads:

What my wife resembles, after hearing of the latest New Labour initiative

Hey, but in terming reds essentially “mutants”, isn’t the Beeb being “gingerist”?

…While there has been at least one report of a serious anti-red hair hate crime in the UK - a 20-year-old stabbed in the back in 2003 - it’s unclear whose responsibility it is to monitor discrimination.

However, considering that natural hair color is an issue that one might well consider as falling more clearly into the racial than anything to do with religion, presumably the Commission for Racial Equality will be jumping in, feet first.  After all, the title of the BBC piece is, “Is gingerism as bad as racism?”

It is certainly not us,” says the Commission for Racial Equality…

That’s right, your eyes don’t deceive you.  Indeed, perhaps the most remarkable thing in that story is that . . . we have actually stumbled upon a group the CRE doesn’t want anything to do with.  So much for equality.
